1) Who we are

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, we act as a data controller when we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data.

2) What this policy covers

This policy explains:

  • what personal data we collect about you,

  • the purposes and legal bases we rely on to process it,

  • how long we keep it,

  • with whom we share it,

  • your privacy rights under applicable Georgian law (and, where relevant, GDPR-style principles), and

  • how to contact us or lodge a complaint.

3) Personal data we collect

Depending on how you interact with Hikers.ge (browsing, purchasing, contacting support), we may collect:

  • Identity & contact data: name, surname, email address, phone number, delivery address.

  • Account data: login email, password (encrypted), communication preferences.

  • Order data: items purchased, price, delivery option, invoice/receipt details.

  • Payment data: we use third-party payment service providers (PSPs). We do not store full card numbers or CVV. Where technically required, we may retain masked card references (e.g., card type and first six/last four digits) or PSP-issued tokens for future purchases, in line with security standards.

  • Communications: messages sent via forms or email, and related metadata.

  • Technical & usage data: IP address, device type, OS, browser, screen resolution, pages visited, session duration, interaction with site elements. This may be collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).

  • Optional data: any additional information you choose to provide in forms or profiles.

4) Where we get your data from

  • Directly from you (when you place an order, create an account, or contact us).

  • Automatically via our website and cookies (see Section 7).

  • From service providers (e.g., payment, delivery) as necessary to complete your order.

5) Why we process your data (purposes) and legal bases

We process your data for the following purposes, based on one or more legal grounds:

  • To provide our services and fulfill contracts (Art. 5 of Georgian PD law): processing orders, payments, delivery, customer support, account management. Legal basis: contract performance.

  • To comply with legal obligations: accounting, tax, fraud prevention, consumer protection rules, responding to lawful requests. Legal basis: legal obligation.

  • To communicate with you: order updates, service notices, support responses. Legal basis: contract performance/legitimate interests.

  • Direct marketing (optional): emails/SMS about new products or offers (only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time). Legal basis: consent.

  • Website operation, analytics & improvement: measuring traffic, usability, performance, and preventing abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests (site security and improvement).

  • Fraud prevention and security: risk detection and mitigation to protect you and our business. Legal basis: legitimate interests/legal obligation.

6) Automated decisions & profiling

We may use limited automated tools (e.g., fraud screening, order risk scoring, personalization). These are designed to keep decisions fair, proportionate, and secure. Where required by law, you can object, request human review, or opt-out of direct-marketing profiling at any time (see Section 11).

7) Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and pixel tags to:

  • remember your preferences,

  • analyze site traffic and performance,

  • support core functions (cart, checkout, security).

8) Payments

Payments are processed by trusted third-party payment processors. We do not store full payment card details on our servers. We may retain masked card references or tokens issued by the PSP to enable faster repeat purchases—subject to your choice and in accordance with applicable standards.

9) Sharing your data (recipients)

We share data only as necessary with:

  • Service providers (processors): hosting, payment processing, couriers, analytics, customer support tools—bound by confidentiality and data-processing agreements;

  • Public authorities if required by law;

  • Professional advisors (e.g., accountants) under duty of confidentiality.
    We do not sell your personal data.

10) International transfers

If we transfer data outside Georgia (for example, to service providers with servers in the EU/US), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (e.g., contractual protections consistent with applicable law).

11) Your rights

Under Georgian law (and, where applicable, GDPR-style rights), you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and obtain a copy;

  • Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;

  • Erase data in specific circumstances (“right to be forgotten”);

  • Restrict processing in certain cases;

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests (including direct marketing);

  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent);

  • Data portability (where applicable);

  • Lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.

12) Data security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data (encryption of passwords, access controls, secure hosting, least-privilege access). No internet transmission is 100% secure, but we continuously improve our safeguards and work only with reputable providers.

13) Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this Policy, including:

  • contractual and legal retention periods (e.g., tax/accounting),

  • handling disputes and fraud prevention,

  • your account lifecycle (until deletion).
    When no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize data.

14) Minors

Our services are intended for users 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided data, we will delete it promptly.

15) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you.
